Will martial arts help me lose weight?
In addition to
many other benefits; physical, emotional and mental, martial arts can help you
to lose fat effectively, and with regular practice will become not just a
habit, but one of life’s pleasures!
Having said
that, effective fat loss is only truly achievable and sustainable when exercise
is part of a healthy lifestyle change, including making healthier choices
regarding food, drink, sleep, fresh air, and a reduction of unhealthier
choices, such as smoking, drinking alcohol and consuming high fat/sugar foods.
What martial
arts does to help you get much leaner, is offer you an alternative to the
normal aerobics and HIIT class that you’ve probably already fallen out of love
with…
Am I too old or overweight for martial arts?
Definitely not!
Martial arts isn’t just for elite athletes in their twenties, and you needn’t
be excluded from joining a class because you’re 40-something plus or
overweight. If you’re unsure of which class to try, call or email our team and
they will help you find what works with your natural abilities and preferences.
Here at Can Do
Martial Arts, we offer free trial martial arts classes, including Karate, Brazilian Jiu
Jitsu, and Jeet Kune Do. We’re very approachable and friendly, so if you are
questioning your ability to take part, remember almost every one of our
students had the same doubts and fears to begin with.
If you’re
looking to lose body fat, build muscle and boost agility and reaction times,
martial arts is ideal.
Training for Warriors at Can Do Martial Arts
Where
traditional martial arts includes grappling and striking moves, Training for Warriors (TFW), whilst heavily influenced by
the martial arts ethos is probably a more familiar style of work out.
We use body
weight exercises, equipment you’ve seen before such as ropes, and guidance on
diet and lifestyle to help you achieve your goals. You set the goal, which can
be to lose fat, become more active, stronger, faster or flexible, and it all
takes place during a six-week course with the same faces every week.
You’re supported
by your coach who offers 1:1 support on goal setting, guidance in each class
and the opportunity to try something new – maybe even take part in a team
challenge or organised event such as a local 10k or obstacle course race.
