CDMA students represent Enlgand once more!
On Sunday the 21st January 2018, students from Can Do Martial Arts attended the JKS Enlgand Karate Squad selections, at the LKA Hombu dojo in Leeds. Nick Heald Sensei 6th Dan, and Matt Price Sensei 6th Dan, ran a fantastic coaching session for the England hopefuls, working on both the WKF scoring system targeting drills, conditioning and fight strategy. It was one of the most enjoyable yet testing sessions to date.
Four students attended from CDMA, and all four students were selected to represent England this competitive season, with the target of being selected for the World Championships in Montreal, Canada, later this year. Please congratulate Sam Coxon, Jordan Squires (Male Senior Kumite Squad) and Kenny Lambourne and Oliver Holyoak (Junior Kumite Squad). We are very proud of them and the effort they have put in to get themselves ready for such a prestigious event.
As the JKS is affiliated to the EKF, the fighters and Kata competitors have the opportunity to try out for the regional EKF Squad, (which last year Oliver Holyoak was a member of) and this is the gateway to being chosen to represent Great Britain at the Olympic games. Only EKF affiliated associations have this amazing opportunity!
Our own CDMA Team selections take place this Sunday 7.30am at the Abingdon Dojo. Please contact dojo@candomartialarts.co.uk if you would like to attend.
