Record your success and plan your day dreams…
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds Awake to find that it was vanity; But the dreamers of day are dangerous men. That they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible.” T.E. Lawrence
At TFW Abingdon/CDMA we have been investing in our student’s experience by improving both our coaching knowledge, skill set, and dojo facilities and buying the most up to date, state of the art equipment.
One of the many improvements we have made is both our performance management system which you will be able to use through our CDMA App which you will find in the App Store!, and at the Abingdon Dojo, our Live Heart Rate monitoring system and workout intensity tracker, as well as our medical grade body analysis machine the Tanita MC-730.
Why? Because if you know where you are now, then you can start to plan where you want to go, that is what you want to achieve, and with our new technology you will be able to track your progress and course correct in order to succeed. Essentially we are making it easier for our customers to set goals and stay in touch with them on a daily basis.
"Setting goals increases motivation” Turkay, S. (2014).
Goal setting has been a focus of mine since studying it as my final thesis for my M.Sc. in Sport and Exercise Science back in 2002. It's a really important skill to develop and will be pivotal in helping you succeed.
"it has long been known that giving people specific goals to achieve rather than telling them to do their best increases their motivation" (Locke & Brian 1966, Brian & Locke, 1967; Locke & Latham, 2002).
So while we as coaches can guide and help you to set goals that are motivating and specific to you, we want you to have the control and power to set your own and have an accurate way to measure them.
“This goal setting process (student’s own creation of goals) can improve students’ learning and motivation” (Zimmerman, 1990).
We know that when you set SMARTER goals, goals that are specific, measurable, achieveable, realistic, exciting and recorded, you will find you can achieve great things.
“Students who invest in their goals also demonstrate greater persistence, creativity, and risk taking in their achievement of those goals.” (Dewett, 2007; Lepper, Greene, & Nisbett, 1973).
If you have a clear focus, regular feedback on what you are actually doing on a session by session basis, it is going to make it much easier for you to persist toward your goals and see your own progress from the effort and commitment you have made.
“Clear goals increase persistence and self-efficacy, making individuals less susceptible to the undermining effects of anxiety, disappointment, and frustration (Schunk, 1990)”.
