What is Training for Warriors?
Training
for Warriors (TFW), was invented by Martin Rooney in the 2000s. His original
intention was to create a physical and mental training programme for combat
athletes in the States. Today the programme trains people all over the world to
deliver the same physical and mental challenges to anyone who has the will to improve
their health and fitness.
CDMA
coaches Virginia Richardson and Scott Witham are affiliated, certified trainers
for TFW and have had the pleasure in taking many Oxfordshire people through the
regular 6-week courses.
Why do TFW
Whatever
your current fitness level, whether you’re looking to start training, get back
to it after a break or maintain your current fitness Training for Warriors
suits everyone. The systems used in TFW can benefit anyone looking to lose
weight, build muscle and gain confidence through feeling great!
Workouts
are varied throughout the six weeks, so you never get bored, and if you find
one session particularly difficult you know it won’t be repeated. We will
caveat that statement by saying that all the TFW sessions will ask you to work
hard and test your limits, because ‘if you do what you’ve always done, you’ll
get what you’ve always got’…
But the
main reason to do Training for Warriors is to feel good in your body and to
live better.
Training for Warriors is
more than a fitness regime
Here at CDMA
our TFW members are more than a group training session. Many go on to do more
sessions and become friends that support each other in their fitness and
wellness journey, offer advice and camaraderie. When you put yourself to the
test alongside others in the same boat, you form a bond, a community.
Our
community goes beyond the training too. We share a uniform that aligns us on
the same mission to work together towards a common goal – a healthier
lifestyle. And we share a healthy recovery breakfast together at the dojo once
a month as well!
What happens in a TFW
workout?
Before we
can put you through your paces, we’ll have a 1-2-1 meeting to find out more
about you and your goals, what it is you ultimately want to achieve.
We go on to
assess your baseline, so we know your starting point. This helps us
differentiate the moves to suit you and to measure your success at the end of
the course.
When the
coaching sessions commence, you’ll get to work with equipment and your body
weight to develop speed, strength, endurance, flexibility and nutrition.
What’s special about
Training for Warriors?
The
difference between TFW and any other workout is the culture. Can Do Martial
Arts was established with a family atmosphere and we continue this ethos into
TFW. There is no competition, just motivation and support.
The next Training for Warriors course begins on
January 7th 2023. Why not register with TFW Abingdon today so you can feel better and begin your
healthy new lifestyle right after the festivities?!
