CDMA - Busy with Success!
It has been a busy week at Can Do, Wednesday the 15th saw the return of Matt Price Sensei 6th Dan and JKS England Team coach to our dojo. Matt Sensei gave two excellent classes on kumite, and karate practice to both Junior and Senior students. We are excited to say Matt Sensei will be returning next month as we continue to strive to improve our student's learning and development.
Hunter Enslen of the Can Do Karate team had another successful outing this weekend, the 19th of March at the KDF Open Championships, winning gold in the boys 14-15 years Kata event. The karate team members all put a great showing in on the day in both kata and kumite events. In just two competitions now, our newly formed squad headed by coach Tom Phillips has won 4 medals, 3 bronze and one gold. Fantastic!
Another great result this weekend, Sunday the 19th was to see two more strong women achieve their Black Belts in JKD. Emily Walker received her Junior Black Belt from Ben Richardson Sensei and Guro Bob Breen, having to take the test by herself, showing great resolve and determination to pass, while Heather Grimes achieved her Black Belt with a tremendous show of skill and commitment. We'd also like to congratulate Suzy, who put in a fantastic effort, displaying a good knowledge of skills, and bravery in sparring, but was not successful this time round, we know you will be next time!
Guro Bob Breen also shared his knowledge of defense against edge weapons and the use of empty hands too. A brilliant day. Thank you to all who came and supported the event.
