Meet Sensei Ben Richardson
Ben began training in martial arts over 20 years ago. Though his roots are found in Karate he has now trained in Aikido, Wing Tsung, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kung Fu, Progressive Fighting Systems (TTF), A.S. Judo, Kali and Jeet Kune Do.
Ben holds a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate (Sensei K. Enoeda, 9th Dan) and is a current England Kumite Squad member
I have known Mr. Richardson for over five years. I was his senior instructor when he examined for his second Dan grade in Shotokan, and I was also his examiner when he was awarded formal approval for his instructor status from the Karate Union of Great Britain. Mr. Richardson is an excellent exponent of karate. He is technically sound in his basics, kata and kumite and as a result of his Masters and Bachelors degrees in Sport Science, has a thorough knowledge of the psychological, biomechanical and medical aspects of sport in general and martial arts in particular. He is a superb instructor. Although i am very much his senior in both Dan grades and years, and I taught him over many years, I have often trained under his instruction and found him to be a thorough, sympathetic, innovative and inspiring teacher. Professor Georges Dussart, Canterbury University, 4th Dan.
Ben gained his 1st Dan Black Belt in Jeet Kune Do and Kali under the world renowned guru Bob Breen.
Ben is an Associate Level 2 Instructor under BIG (Breen Instructor Group, formerly Jeet Kune-Kali International).
Ben more recently became an Apprentice Instructor in Progressive Fighting Systems through TTF. Ben was one of the first people to receive an instructorship from the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) and the National Open College Network.
Ben continues to compete nationally in different styles and train both nationally and internationally to further his knowledge of the martial arts through his own experience. He now teaches seminars in JKD across the UK.
Ben holds a Masters Degree in Sport & Exercise Science & coaching certification in Speed, Agility & Quickness (SAQ).<
